4d: PARTICIPATING IN THE PROFESSIONAL COMMUNITY
Reading and activity for the book Find Fergus by Mike Boldt for the WVSU chapter of the WVRA.
Black Diamond Girl Scout Council Troop Leader five years to date
I am one of those people that have a hard time saying no, especially when it comes to helping others. Even more so when it involves helping children being able to do or see something they otherwise would not be able to. When it comes to being able to form relationships with colleagues I can not attest to that as much as I would like to. I am doing my best to form sincere relationships with in my placement school, however I had to switch schools due to my teachers personal matter. The relationships I have formed, especially at Richmond Elementary, are characterized by mutual support and cooperation. I do however take several leadership roles in promoting a culture of professional inquiry.
I am a Girl Scout leader for five years now, I volunteered with the WVSU Reading Association to do a read aloud and activity, and my favorite volunteer role of every volunteer position I have ever had was being the volunteer librarian at Eastbrook Elementary. For three glorious years and an extra volunteer my first year with the school I formed more wonderful, lasting friendships with the staff, especially the principal, Martica. As I state in my philosophy, reading is everything to me and the most important thing in the world. Here is where i felt at home and where I participate in school events, take on a substantial contribution, and a leadership role in Eastbrook's family and was a huge part of the life of the school. I may not have been a paid employee but I well-respected by all and I was there for them for anything, they did not even have to ask, I could just tell.
